So I was wandering around Japanese websites, as is my wont, and I found passing reference to... a Cowboy Bebop yaoi doujinshi.
Needless to say, I was immediately horrified, repulsed, and disgusted. Not Cowboy Bebop! Damn you! Damn you all! Some things should not be slashed!
And then I loaded up all the pictures as fast as I humanly could. Because, of course, if there's going to be a hideous train wreck, I want to see it and inflict it on people.

Is that a Renba Country doujinshi? (The "Spike with kitty ears" thing made me wonder.) I've never seen their yaoi stuff, but their comedy books are uber-uber-cute.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize on behalf of my country. m(_)m Any nation that puts out KittySpike/KittySpike and Pikachu/Vincent (yes in that order, I saw it with my very own eyeballs) really deserves the occassional tsunami. We do come up with good stuff...please forgive the occassional WTF that appears.

Ahhh, so it's real. I'd heard of self/self slashes before, but only as hearsay. (Haven't looked at the pics yet, though...)
I don't find it scary so much as unoriginal. I mean, erm. Is it the ultimate form of whacking off, or just a case of not wanting to bother with tedious things like "personal dynamics"? Even the most ridiculous, plotless slash at least has interplay between the two.
Huh. But, I'm not one to judge. And this fits right into my list of "you can find fans of ANYTHING on the internet...anything".

I don't find it disturbing so much as just plain silly--the ears kinda push it over the edge.
I don't want to explore it much further--I really like Bebop, and much of that's the tone which should be preserved--but one can imagine pairings that are a lot more damaging.

Pssh. Yaoi itself is a ridiculous phenomenon. Why get up in arms if someone uses a doppelganger and slaps kitty ears on it? Is that really any more ridiculous than simply pairing Spike and Jet? True, Spike may not masturbate in front of a mirror in Cowboy Bebop with a tail stuck up his bum and a pair of cat ears on, but neither do he and Jet ever pet each other once in the entire series. Yaoi itself is disturbing. Cat ears and doppelgangers are just icing, baby.

I'm surprised people are bothered by that. Why do people have a problem with either yaoi or yuri of any form? Isn't it all basically just porn for people to get off to? There's not supposed to be a plot or reasoning behind what is essentially a masturbation fantasy. If there is, it tends to get skipped by the reader since they all want HAWT HAWT AXXXION and not a pretentious Harlequin Novella take on the meaning of life.
People are going to write slash and draw hentai of everything imaginable, and complaining about it isn't going to stop them. Everyone may as well just get on with their lives and follow the rule, "If you don't like it, ignore it".
Alternatively you could always revel in the extreme badness of it all. It's a hell of a lot more fun.
