I don't really know why, but furniture stores always make me happy.
Seriously. I think it's because Boyfriend and I wander up and down the aisles making very loud fun of all the ugly tacky furniture and throwing ourselves on the not-so-ugly comfy kind and somehow I always leave in a perfectly cheerful mood. Something about mocking horrible furniture just does that, I guess.
But even when I go by myself, it always cheers me up.
For the record, I was in said furniture store because my old Q-tip lamp bit the big one. (So named by me because it was shaped just exactly like half a Q-tip. Expressive, no?) Now I am the proud owner of the world's dorkiest torchiere lamp. Seriously. It's black enamel and has a big spirally thing under the... uh... big disc thing. You know, the big disc thing that lights up. Boy, you can tell I've only been awake for half an hour, can't you?

IKEA! Ahem. Yes, they have little light demo things you can push. And the little living room with a window facing a wall will light up, and blink as different lamps are lit. And they've got rows of curtains and bottles and other randomness that's fun to almost break. Ahem.

Furniture stores tend to make me bored and depressed. Seen one ugly-tacky chair, seen 'em all. Not to mention the if-I-saw-something-I-liked-I-wouldn't-be-able-to-afford-it blues.
Doesn't anyone else find that vast accretions of vile, taste-free furniture sap their will to live (at least until you get out of they store, anyway). And I do mean vast, since these places seem to be the size of aircraft hangars. The big ones seem to be the size of aircraft carriers.
As for office supply stores... deep joy! I love office supplies. There are always things to flip though and browse, and calulators to play with and buttons to push and folders and files to examine and wierd pens to test out and scissors to almost but not quite slice the tips of my finger off with...
